Fleet Vehicle Management – Strategic

The benchmark standard for those employed in the co-ordination and management of a vehicle fleet, this course is structured around 5 core competencies essential for the strategic operation of a vehicle fleet.

  • Managing communication
  • Establishing process for administration
  • Understanding fleet vehicle funding and finance
  • Discovering vehicle acquisition and remarketing
  • Interpreting legislation

This course is externally accredited by The IMI (The Institute of the Motor Industry) and sets the standard for those responsible for co-ordinating or managing a vehicle fleet.

Who should attend?

This course is recommended for those with responsibility for managing a vehicle fleet and is suitable for both Fleet Operators, and Fleet Support Providers.

You may have direct responsibility for the fleet operation or involvement as an HR or Finance team member, or work in a supporting role and are keen to develop your knowledge and skills.

It is also a natural progression from our Online Introductory Course, continuing the learning and development journey.

Course delivery

Packed with content and guided by our experienced fleet industry team, the course runs over three 2-day modules, spaced around 8 weeks apart with job-based assignments and knowledge reviews to embed the learning.

There are 2 options available for attending this course:

  • Trainer led face-to-face course in three, 2-day modules for groups of up to 12 participants.
  • Self-paced online learning. We recommend allocating around 45 hours of study to complete this course, but this will vary from learner to learner.

Delegates that opt for the distance learning version of the course will be given deadlines for the assignments and will be invited to the assignment workshops with trainers and other course delegates, to keep them on track.  The distance learning course can be started at any time.

Both delivery options of this course provide an effective and enjoyable means of attaining Professional level membership of The Association of Fleet Professionals.

We are here to help, so please do get in touch during your course if you have a question or would appreciate some support!

About the trainers

Ronnie Gillman
I’ve worked in automotive roles from dealer to manufacturer to groups for over 30 years.  I’ve always enjoyed celebrating others success and seeing people thrive from their development and achievements, so training was magnetic for me. It’s a privilege every day I get to walk part of life’s journey with someone, and I develop personally every time I run a training course by spending time with those who want to invest in themselves - it’s inspiring!

Peter Eldridge
I have been involved in fleet management training delivery for over 25 years and I am as enthusiastic about it now as I was when I first started and have no plans to stop anytime soon!  Whether an online or face-to-face environment, I still enjoy the ‘buzz’ of assisting delegates with their fleet training & development journey and I still get a great deal of satisfaction watching them develop their skills and knowledge in our increasingly fast-changing fleet vehicle management environment.

Peter Milchard
I’ve always enjoyed seeing others developing knowledge but more importantly, confidence in their abilities.  Witnessing inner growth and ability is really rewarding for me.  Ensuring that the training and coaching I deliver is relevant, current and takes account of individual needs is what drives me.

Testimonials

I’ve been working as a Senior Manager within the Fleet industry for 16 years. I still learnt so much from this course. The trainers are excellent but also the dynamic of studying with likeminded individuals was of huge benefit. Relevant and inciteful
Adam Bartlett from Northumbria Police.

Professionally run course, explaining some detailed and complex subjects in an open and unpressured, friendly manor.
Steve Hollis

A really thorough and well-paced introduction into Strategic Fleet Management. Great interaction between the knowledgeable facilitators and the ‘class’ and no ‘death by powerpoint’!
- Andy Parkes

Highly recommend the Strategic course for anyone wanting to expand their knowledge of fleet. Even if you aren’t directly involved in fleet, you can still gain valuable tips. Engaging and interesting training course.
