The AFP is an abbreviation for The Association of Fleet Professionals Limited.

The formation of the Association of Fleet Professionals (AFP), has brought together in one entity the combined strength of industry campaigning and lobbying undertaken by ACFO for almost 50 years and fleet stakeholder training and education support provided by the ICFM for more than 25 years.

The AFP is now ‘the organisation for fleet professionals’ and is the single voice for fleet decision-makers – whether they be fleet operators or fleet support providers and is focused on two key mandates:

• Providing a voice for fleet policy setters including fleet managers and corporates operating vehicle fleets within the UK, protecting their interests and driving an agenda to ensure that their organisations can efficiently run fleet vehicles domestically and abroad.
• To provide education and training solutions, both online and tutor-led, that will assist the further education and development of the current and future generation of fleet professionals involved in the corporate fleet arena and wider fleet industry and promote best practice methods and techniques tailored to promote a modern fleet operation.

The AFP provides these services directly to our members and this privacy statement provides details of what to expect when we collect your personal information in connection with these services and confirmation that we take responsibility for the protection of your personal data particularly seriously.

The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) came into force on 25 May 2018 and is designed to unify data privacy requirements across the European Union and works in conjunction with the Data Protection Act 2018. What data will we hold involving you

We will only receive your personal data which is directly or indirectly connected to your membership of the AFP. This will include data provided by telephone; digital communication; post; or via our website.

How will we utilise your data?

We will utilise your personal data to support your membership and any associated training or best practice promotions and for no other purpose. This will include the provision of your data to nominated external bodies who provide support to the AFP in connection with your membership and training qualifications.

Your data will only be utilised for the purposes outlined in this statement and will not be passed by us to any external parties for marketing or other sales related purposes.

How we store your data?

Your data will be held electronically within a secure web-based database and additionally retained as hard file copy in a storage location at our offices that has robust access security controls in place to prevent unauthorised entry.

How long will we keep your data for?

Your data will normally be retained for a period not exceeding 6 months following termination of your membership, however certain elements of financial data are legally required to be retained for a period of 6 years. Under the new GDPR regulations your non-regulatory data can only be kept for so long as you wish to allow it and you can request for it to be deleted at any time.

Your rights

Under the Data Protection Act 2018 and The General Data Protection Regulation you have rights as an individual which you can exercise in relation to the information we hold about you. You have a right to complain to the Information Commissioners Office if you consider that we have breached our data obligations.
